I mentioned littlest pygmies pension for catching flu bugs, well apparently it was a bit more than just a bug. So after the fever bug and barfy bug she began to run a fever again. I was starting to get a bit suspicious at this point that they could actually all be different bugs in the same week. Then in the evening she began complaining of tummy pain. Now she is by far my toughest pygmy,
so when she complains about something you know it really must hurt. By 9pm she was intermittently screaming in agony. It flitted through my mind for just a moment (appendicitis) but she is really to young for that so I thought most likely a UTI. (You can look that up later guys)
By about 3am when she was still screaming on and off like an angry banshee I thought time to take her in to the ER. Problem was the FSU football game was the night before so I just knew they would still be full of the drunks and at least a 3 hour wait minimum. So I held out till 6 and took her in. There was only 1 other person there (kidney stone *ouch*) and we got back pretty quickly. Well as quick as they move in the ER.
First thought was same as mine, UTI but test for that came back normal. So they sent her for CT scan and xrays as well as blood draws. We get through the abdominal CT scan, which if anyone has had to do that I am so very sorry, and we got through one xray when the ER doc came in and said you can stop, its APPENDICITIS!
I had just told the elders I thought it was a UTI and we’d be going home later that day. Had to make some quick phone call and get everyone situated while they prepped her for surgery. Then I realized…she was going to have surgery!
Everything went perfectly and she is sleeping soundly. I just have to remember to listen to that nagging voice more often.
One tough pygmy. We should be able to get home sometime tomorrow. This has probably been her roughest week of her entire life.
Between the times she was feeling bad she wanted to hit a few yardsales with me. We pulled over to these preteen girls that were having one the corner. The mom came out and brought them snacks and asked us how we were doing in her lovely British accent. She had her lab with her on a leash and littlest pygmy really wanted to say hi so she asked the lady if she could pet her doggy. The lady said sure and being that he was a lab I wasn’t too concerned. Well little pygmy got on little pat in and the dog did what I call “punch bit” her right on the nose.
She really did have one doozy of a week.
Oh and the next yardsale we went to, just happened to be a lawyer and as little pygmy was regaling her with the story of the last sale she slipped in and asked “do you need a lawyer”. Oh yes, to my 4 year old. I just had to go home after that.
Update: We had a bit of a rough night post op but she is getting back to old bossy self. Again I would like to say we should be getting outta here today but I seem to jinx myself every time I do. So I’m just going to think it for now.

Scary!!! So glad she is doing okay.
let us know if you need anything. Wow – what a week for both of you….
So glad she’s ok now. That’s a heck of a week.
Hope she’s feeling much better soon!
