So me and the youngest pygmy decided to treat ourselves today and hit up the Starbucks inside our Target. We needed to kill a few minutes before the Goodwill opened.
I get my skinny peppermint latte and little pygmy likes to get hot chocolate. Mostly so she can have a cup just like mom.
Side Note: Keep an eye out for the Starbucks mugs for resale, the “city” ones can bring in big bucks. See here.
Back to my story, so we were waiting in line (only one other in front of us) and there was a lady and her young son about my pygmies age right in front of us. As she was finishing up she turned around and handed me something. At first I thought it was a Starbucks sleeves,
and she had written “Happy Wed.” on it. Odd, but maybe she was trying to spread some cheer. I ordered our drinks as she hightailed it out of there, then I had a minute to inspect what she handed me.
It was not a sleeve but a gift card! When I asked the cashier if she had put anything on it she said yes, $5.
Random acts of kindness, I have heard tale of such things but really didn’t know what to do when it happened to me. My first thought of course was, “man I really must look rough this morning”.
After I got over the initial shock I thought of what to do next. The first thing that came to mind was, pay it forward. My son’s special ed teachers work tirelessly for long hours with little pay and even less recognition for their tremendous efforts. So I bought 2 more cards for $5 as well as hitting up some of the 90% off valentines candy so he could share with his teacher and her 2 wonderful aides who deserve so much more.

AWW so sweet, we were hit once with a RAoK. hubs and I were at lunch, I was very preggo & son was little. When our waitress brought us our check she also informed us that the family (rather large family btw) that had just left had paid our bill! We passed it on by leaving the waitress a great tip
So I of course had to click the mug ebay link cause I have a Chicago City scenes mug that I got in 04 (I think). Unfortunately it’s not worth what some of those are especially since I would be hard pressed to call it in new condition because I have drank coffee out most days of the week since bringing it home
That is so sweet. It’s things like that you always remember. I have quite a few Starbucks mugs myself, no $500 mugs but I love using them and probably will use them till the handle falls off!
Thanks so much for this. I have some extra time today and think I’ll swing around and buy a couple of gift cards for my son’s associates. Great idea:)
Wonderful! I am sure they will be completely surprised and very appreciative.
You need to put your son in my class. I could use a Starbucks card, and my aides and I work VERY hard in our ESE class. Man, some people are just so LUCKY!
It is cool to be the recipient of a RAoK, but I can’t think of a time that I was.
I think all ESE teachers have a special place in my heart. It really is such a hard and most of the time thankless job. Just know we think you’re awesome!
