Lego Lego Lego

So I am getting another yard sale post up before my Georgia trip but it was a long trip and much happened where as my yard sale trip was…a long…trip and much happened.  Ok so I have no excuse, or shame.

I did however have a very fruitful yard sale day.  I started early and managed to sneak out with just one pygmy, a great beginning.  I hit a few duds at the first couple of stops but it was home runs from there on out. My first purchase was the stools ($5 each) and the shelf ($2).  I desperately needed to replace my bar stools since someone has come along and swiped my other (ehem..hubby) for their work bench area.  I also have something planned for all these shelves I am buying but I’m not exactly sure what yet.

At my next stop I picked up some Dora people and accessories ($15).

We were in one of the more affluent neighborhoods and the lady had the Dora house and a few other accessories but she wanted $50 for all of it.  I politely declined and asked if I could separate just a couple of them for purchase.

She hesitatingly agreed $15.  My next house in same neighborhood was ripe for selling as was I pretty ripe myself by that time.

I think it was near 112 degrees by 9 am.  I was able to practically steal the bin holder, 6-bionicles, 1-bag of legos, 3-Pokemon 23 K gold plated collectors cards, and 4-Diary of a Wimpy kid books all for $7!!!

I ran with the stuff thinking they might change their mind and realize they were giving it away.

My last and mostly unplanned stop was at a storage shed.  It was advertised-

Two completely stacked storage units of teaching stuff- furniture, books, games, manipulatives, toys, and lots of etc. sold by the bag/box or bin. Homeschoolers, stay at home mommies, grandparents and day care centers also welcome. Units will be open from 8 am til 2 pm on Saturday, August 6th. I am also willing to answer questions by phone and can meet you out there other times if necessary.

It seemed like a great find but my problem was well, finding it.  It turned out it was way farther from my house than expected so I almost decided to skip it.  Oh man am I ever glad I didn’t.  It was a spectacular find and I snagged tons of things for super cheap as she was really trying to clear out those storage sheds.

All those lego in that huge bin was only $10!

I also grabbed 2-teaching kits, 1-Hooked on phonics, and a couple of Dr. Seuss books. In total I spent $15 for all of it. :) The best part, she had only partly taken out one of her storage sheds and she is going to do another sale next week.

In all I was very pleased with myself and have done fairly well with my first Ebay venture.  I will update that when the bidding has closed on Tuesday.  Happy hunting.

I linked up over at Yard Sale Mommy.  You can pop over there and check out everyones  great weekend.

Are you going to sell those Legos by the pound then? I look forward to hearing how you did after the closings on Tuesday!

Honestly I’m not sure. Being I’ve just started out I will have to research a bit the best way to go about it. I’m always open to suggestions :)

      I was pretty excited myself!

  3. GREAT finds! I love selling toys.

    • tallymomma says:

Thanks, I am hoping I am somewhat good at it.

  4. Awesome Logo Haul! If I lived near you I’d be going back for her sale next weekend too!

I don’t even think this lady is going to have to advertise next week because I keep telling everyone I know about it. She was super sweet too.

Woohoo for you! I love the shelves, they are so cute. I am also loving the legos. I have been to over 30 garage sales in July and can you believe that I have not found one stinkin’ lego! Haha.

Thanks! The shelves have helped tremendously in organizing the boys room. I seem to be finding things in spurts. It’s kind of funny like that.

Oh my!! Amazing! First off, seriously seven bucks??! And then wow on the teacher sale! I find those teacher sales but then everything is priced so high! So excited for you!

    • tallymomma says:

I was so excited as well! I am actually taking orders from other people on things to look out for. :o I think it the fact that it was in a non air conditioned storage shed and we had a heat index warning that day was a motivator in the pricing.

The legos. You should have a nephew go through and tell you the valuable sets that may be hidden in there. Separate all the minifigures and sell those. The rest I would do by the pound.
    Great haul!

Thank you for the suggestion. I was wondering if I should pull they guys/gals out of there or not.

  8. Kelly W. says:

If there are people in there, definitely pull those out and sell separately. OMG! My son would LOVE for me to find that pile of LEGO!
